Shared by IRPO–October Community Workshops for NC Statewide Locally Coordinated Plan

Public Input Welcomed to Guide Planning and Coordination of Public Transportation Services Statewide

RALEIGH – This October, stakeholders and the public are invited to provide input at community workshops across the state as part of the North Carolina Statewide Locally Coordinated Plan. The workshops are free and open to the public. No registration is necessary to attend.

The N.C. Department of Transportation is developing the Statewide Locally Coordinated Plan to support the administration of the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program (5310 Program). This Federal Transit Administration (FTA) program provides formula funding to states, small or large urban areas, and rural areas for the purpose of assisting private nonprofit groups in meeting the transportation needs of older adults and people with disabilities when the transportation service provided is unavailable, insufficient, or inappropriate to meeting these needs. The Locally Coordinated Plan is being developed to meet FTA requirements of the program, which include: ensuring integration and coordination among diverse transportation modes and providers; conducting a public, participatory planning process; and developing project selection criteria consistent with the coordinated planning process.

This effort is being coordinated with the Public Transportation Statewide Strategic Plan, currently underway. For more information on the Public Transportation Statewide Strategic Plan, please visit https://www.ncdot.gov/nctransit/strategicplan/.
